For the past 12 years, Country Yard Creations has been a favourite for acreage owners in central Saskatchewan. It all starts with Rob, the owner. Meticulous and hard-working, Rob will treat your yard as if it’s his own. When you hire CYC, you’re working directly with the owner of the business which makes a huge difference at the end of the day. We work one on one with you to achieve your desired results.

We treat all our equipment with great care and proper maintenance and the results speak for themselves. Good equipment will make a lasting impression.

We purchase the best materials from reputable suppliers who themselves have a strong history of excellence and knowledge. If it’s not good enough for Rob, it’s not good enough for you and that says a lot.

In our consultation with you, we will go through everything together. We talk about the grading and if anything will be required to ensure a proper slope and limit the issues that may arise down the road. When landscaping your yard, the base layer is extremely important and so we go through all the details, from topsoil and seeding to the trees and shrubs.

Many new acreages nowadays are built with no trees in the area and so based on your needs, we will provide our recommendations on a shelter belt, using  a plastic mulch applicator. This service is very highly recommended as any new seedlings being planted into the ground with no barrier for weeds will lead to a daunting task in the future and the success rate of tree growth will be severely diminished.

Now we can also make a drastic change to any yard by moving in 8’ to 12’ blue spruce trees. We get all of our trees from a local tree farm where all the roots have been root pruned so that when transplanted, it offers the best success rate. It’s the little things we do that end up making a big difference.

If you’re looking to save time and frustration, we offer irrigation services. We install drip lines under the black plastic, giving the trees the best chance of survival. Irrigation can also be installed to all shrub beds, lawns and larger trees moved into the yard. As you know, everything needs water to survive and thrive. Let your system do the work for you.

Outside of landscaping your yard, Rob is a handyman, and a good one at that. Whether you’re looking for a new shop, a deck, a garden shed or a retaining wall, CYC is your one-stop-shop.

When it’s time for you to transform your yard, get in touch with us and let’s book your free consultation. Rob will come to you to offer a customized plan with recommendations and a detailed budget.

Let’s build something beautiful, together!

Frequently Asked Questions

We use the same seed for both hydroseeding and press seeding. We use a fescue blend of grass seed because it is drought tolerant. We also mix in a couple different types of rye grass to act as a cover crop.

Yes, although depending on the grass blend, it may or may not be best suited for your project.

The plastic mulch retains moisture, acts as a greenhouse retaining heat, and keeps all grass and weeds away from the tree stealing or competing for the moisture.

Hydroseeding is typically used for seeding on steep embankments or if you are worried about wind erosion or moisture erosion.

Press seeding is typically used for flat surfaces as this application allows for direct seed to soil contact. There is no protection for erosion and it doesn’t retain moisture as well. It’s the cheaper of the two options.

Yes, as long as it is smooth and has some compaction. You don’t want 6” of loose, soft soil. An ideal seedbed is smooth and compact with the top 1” loose.

No, I don’t have any warranty because I cannot control mother nature. I do guarantee that I provide all my clients with quality work and my reputation is everything to me.

It is always best to have 4” of good fertile soil before planting grass. Grass will grow in sandy soil blends and in clay blends but it requires a lot of attention and maintenance. It will not have near the results as good fertile topsoil.

You should see it start to come up 6-7 days after adequate moisture. In ideal conditions, you should cut your grass in 3-4 weeks.

It’s likely due to moles or deer. Be sure to plant a few spares.

It’s good to keep the newly seeded grass moist whenever possible.

Enough to keep it moist but not puddling.

No, but we need to remove all rocks before we can seed it.

No, it stays locked together pretty good and does not blow around much at all. It will fade over time just like all wood mulch.
